A real mixed weekend for our local Galway Clinic sponsored community based soccer club Maree/Oranmore fc.

Adult Soccer

At adult level the Junior Div 3 side moved into second position in the League with a convincing 5-1 home victory against visitors Bearna Na Forbacha Aontaithe with goals from Hugh O Neill, Matt Roache and three from Steven Matthews.

No such luck for the adult Premier side who went down to Mervue away in Fahys Field in the FAI Junior Cup on Saturday last. Level on the half hour with Maree/Oranmore playing well, four errors saw the game swing to Mervue in a game where the 4-0 victory flattered the hosts somewhat.

Competitive Boys

The u12a side advanced comfortably in the sfai u12 cup with a 6-1 victory against Athenry fc B. Goals from Jonathan Smith, Tiernan Grealish, Dara Costello and three from Dara Costello saw the lads progress.

The u12 Div 5 side were in League action in Maree on Saturday and went down 5-3 to Athenry fc with goals from Adam Fahy, Brian Mc Grath and Simon Dulski.

Well done to club u18 captain Shane Cox on his selection on the Connacht Youth Interpro squad which played in Galway this past weekend.

Competitive Girls

The girls u13 side defeated Oughterard afc in New Village on Saturday last in the Cup with Emer Brosnahan getting a brace in a fine win for Dave Geraghtys charges.

The u17 Girls despite being a little depleted had a very fine 3-1 win in the Cup on Sunday afternoon against a fine Athenry fc side with Nicole Duffy scoring and Ailbhe Doyle netting a brace.

Halloween Girls Camp

Parents of girls born between 2008 and 2013 are reminded our Halloween Girls soccer camp takes place on Thursday Oct 31st and Friday Nov 1st. At 25 euro per child, its great value. Bookings and further details from Brian on 087 7526072.
